Dear Practice Manager
This is the first of Medical Insurance Consultants new e Newsletters, in which we hope to bring to your attention relevant insurance issues. We will also be introducing new products with introductory discounts, some of which could benefit you personally.
This is a comprehensive new scheme which we have recently launched. It includes as standard accidental damage cover for buildings and contents as well as a “new for old” settlement basis for claims. There is an extension to provide worldwide cover for personal possessions/valuables and cover of up to £25,000 for identity fraud.
We would like to provide you with a quotation and as an incentive we will match the premium that you are currently paying. We will then give you a further premium discount of a minimum of 10% (subject to our underwriting criteria). To complete our online enquiry form CLICK HERE using Offer Code ENL01.
This is a minefield with numerous different policies currently available. A large percentage of providers have one thing in common – they have “restrictive conditions/exclusions” which are designed to either reduce the number of claims that can be made or reduce the amount that is paid out. As one Practice Manager said “this is a license to print money” whilst another referred to them as “a catch all exclusion”. They were referring to the following terms:
1. A pre existing condition exclusion where the Insurer will not pay out on any claim made for a condition experienced prior to implementation of the cover, whether you consulted a General Medical Practitioner or not – this is definitely one to avoid.
2. Having to make a claim within 12 months of a condition manifesting itself – not recommended for ongoing conditions. For instance, you can be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and continue to work for a number of years. Should you need to claim several years after the diagnosis was made this exclusion/restriction would prevent the claim being paid.
You may have requested that your policy includes either or both of these conditions in order to reduce the premium - in which case my apologies for wasting your time. For those Practice Managers who think their policy is fully comprehensive there is a good chance that your policy may have one or both of the above restrictions/conditions. Do not rely on ‘word of mouth’ or ‘sales patter’ look at your policy wording to check what you are covered for.
As you will have probably gathered the MIC Locum Scheme does not have these restrictions / conditions in the policy wording. This is probably why we have, over the last 12 years, been providing comprehensive Locum Insurance for Medical Practices using the same Insurer and paying over 95% of all claims made.
If you would like to discuss the requirements for your practice, receive details of our policy and a quotation please complete our online enquiry form by CLICKING HERE or alternatively telephone us on Freephone 0800 163 870 and speak to one of our advisors quoting Offer Code ENL01. Any quotation sent to you will be subject to a 10% discount.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Yours faithfully
