Medical Insurance Consultants Ltd is a family owned and run business and has, for over 25 years, specialised in dealing with the insurance requirements of GPs, GP Practices, Consultants and Specialists, Dentists, Dental Practices, Vets and Veterinary Practices, Opticians, Private Hospitals/Clinics and Care Homes better known as the healthcare professions.

Simon Downing, the son of the founder of Medical Insurance Consultants, oversees the day to day running of the business. Vanessa Coombs is Office Manager and oversees our staff and for her sins, oversees the running of all of our schemes except for Property, this is overseen by Steven May. Both Vanessa and Steven have been with MIC for some considerable time and have a plethora of experience which our clients can call on.

A little bit about how we got to where we are today:

From the outset we set our sights on developing products that would provide our clients with the insurance cover that they needed at competitive prices and we strive to provide a 'Customer Service Package' of the highest quality. We continue to do so.

We were one of the first companies, 15 years ago, to introduce GPs Locum Insurance to medical practices and with the advice and help from GPs and Practice Managers we continue to develop our unique Locum (and Absence) Insurance which now includes a unique No Claims Discount as well as a Seamless Transfer facility when transferring to the MIC Locum (and Absence) Insurance from another provider. In addition, 8 years ago, we introduced our Valued Client Discount which at that time was also unique and benefitted our clients who held multiple policies with MIC.

Here are just few of the other products that we provide - A Locum and Practice Expenses Insurance for dentists and their practices and a Private Practice Income Protection Scheme for Consultants and Specialists to cover their income and expenses as well as Professional Indemnity both on an individual basis and corporate basis.

In 2011 we introduced our 'Commission Sacrifice' facility where we reduce the commission that we would normally earn when we arrange Income Protection Insurance (this ties in with our Locum (Absence) Insurance), Life Assurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Partnership Protection for our clients. By reducing our commission we are able to reduce the premium that our clients pay over the lifetime of the policy not just in the first year.

We insure thousands of healthcare professionals in the UK and in 2009 we assisted with over £1.5 million in claims.

We are a 'Trusted Insurance Provider' and a 'One Stop Shop' for healthcare professionals.
